A new adventure

This year I had a very lovely customer of mine ask if I could make ponchos

I hadn't, but I am always interested in experimenting

So we looked at patterns, and she found some she liked

Here they are!!!

A prayer blanket

When you have someone special, sometimes you go that extra bit

you want them to know they are someone special to you

and that they are in your heart and your prayers

this is a prayer blanket I made this year

very special indeed

Got a musical bub?

I was seized with inspiration one day, and created rattles shaped as maracas!

I can make them any colour you like...

Each maraca has a rattle inside, so if your baby likes to get attention, I am sure they would love these!

I think that's a winner!!!!

I love to get pictures of my toys with their forever friends!

It is wonderful to see how much they are loved!

It doesn't matter how old, or young you are - Betsy-toys are always delightful! 😍

My most popular item

I continue to make blankies. Have made over 120 of them now.

That definitely qualifies them as my most popular item, right?

I always have some blankies made up, for urgent orders.

I then only need to grab the blankie and make an animal to go on top!

The bunny is always popular

So are elephants

Koalas are a new favourite

Placed on different colours

Occasionally there is an order for a teddy

Puppies are much loved

Teddies still get ordered too!

Now that is colourful!

Cuddles forever!

Another new item from Lorraine at Rainebo Designs patterns! I love them!

This Baby Hippo is just SO cuddly. It is the only word I can use to describe it!

What's not to love?

A cuddly new range

Please welcome my Critter range!

Thanks to Lorraine of Rainebo Designs, I am adding yet another range of cute, cuddly little toys.

Perfect for little hands to hold for comfort and cuddles.

I have started with making the lion, puppy and lamb, but hope to get to the bunny, kitten and teddy soon.

The photo below gives you an idea of their size on my hand. Just 14cm long from nose tip to tail.

Monday 30 September 2019

Oh baby!

A few months ago I showed you some blankets that I had made for my nieces.

But recently I was asked about baby blankets, and it set me thinking that I could find a pattern for stroller blankets! I am not always sure if these experiments will work, but I can only try out new ideas and see if they sell!

A bright green one, measuring approximately 80cm (32") - the perfect size to keep a little one cosy on a walk to the park, to the shop, or when a parent needs to go for a jog!

Pink and black varigated yarn. Rather dazzling for some perhaps, but no doubt trendy for others =)
We all have individual tastes, and I was trying to cover a wide spectrum.

Scarves galore!

I have often found or been given odd balls of yarn, and it can be difficult to know just what to do with them. Many times I have used these odd balls of yarn to whip up a scarf, and I thought I would show you a few of those I have done recently.

There are SO many scarf patterns available, and I have even tried inventing a few of my own over the years, so there is a good variety here.

Different types of yarn lends itself to different scarf patterns...

The first is a cosy warm cotton/acrylic - it can be thoroughly frustrating trying to get the photograph to reflect the true colours, but this is a light blue mixed with white and a glittery fleck.

Next I found some bright warm chunky acrylic, and simultaneously found an amazing pattern which was SO quick!

A yarn I was gifted was an interesting mix of cotton, wool and silk! I found the colours to be rather fascinating! The lacey pattern suited this yarn perfectly.

A box of love

I'm going to be brief.

It's just the plain truth that sometimes words can be too much.

But a little gift can speak
comfort, encouragement and love...

Monday 19 August 2019

Just gorgeous....again!

When you find a good pattern, I think it is safe to stick with it, right? And with different colour choices, you can't get bored of it!

It is a very similar pattern to the scarf I shared last time, and just is, well... can I say it again?
Gorgeous!

This shawl was made to suit the customer's favourite colours, and I think it melded together incredibly well!

I'll confess I'm not an expert on colours, but this sure looks great!
Don't you think?

A birthday gift of love

Of course I LOVE to give handmade knitted gifts - you really wouldn't expect anything else, right?

So this year, I whipped up this scarf for a dear friend - using a yarn that she had picked out!

Doesn't get better than that, right?

I have used this pattern more than once, and I love how pretty it is!

(Just including another picture closer up so you can see the detail of it)

Happy birthday my friend! 💕

Simply blue

I've said it before, but I often repeat myself, so sending my apologies in advance - hehe!

I love to knit different things!

And occasionally, or sometimes more often than that, I just grab a random skein of yarn, and whip up something that takes my fancy - and hopefully will sell!

So, it's very simple, but no doubt perfect for someone who likes to add a little extra to their outfit!

Monkey mania

Hello again! How are you doing? I have been busy as a bee ☺

I love it when I get orders for a range of items, because I haven't one minute to be bored!

I was excited to get an order for not one, but two monkeys! It had been a few years since I had had a request for a monkey, and I thought it would be a good challenge for me to produce two!

Our son has a toy puppy who gets into everything, and you can see he was quite puzzled by the process of producing two monkeys - hehe! He wasn't too sure what to make of all those hands and feet!

But he found that when the process was complete, it all made sense, and for a short time before the monkeys were wrapped up and posted, he had some new friends to play with!

This monkey is mastering whistling, I believe.

While this monkey is obviously waiting...

Perhaps waiting to meet his new best friend?

I was thrilled to receive a photo of my monkeys with their new friends!

I think it is safe to say that those monkeys have reached monkey paradise! 💕

I did it - another love blanket

I wanted to give blankets of love to one family of nieces and nephews
but I also enjoy orders.

You've heard it before, right?

I love variety!

So, this is the last of my love blankets for this year's birthdays.

It's VERY colourful!!!

We had fun working out which way to put those colours!

There are lots of patterns you can make,
and I am looking forward to trying out some others...
 next time!

Hope all is well in your corner of the world!

Monday 10 June 2019

Another blanket of love!

I love the way that the colours in this blanket go SO well together!

They just go...

Wouldn't you agree?

Thought you might like to see the pattern up close

Just perfect for a little girl
but
hopefully a gift she will treasure all her life!

Blanket of love

I have a bundle of nieces and nephews!

Every year, I struggle to think of a birthday present for each of them!

So I start thinking in June (or earlier), about the next year.

For the birthdays of 2019, I decided to make the nieces and nephews from one family each a blanket.

I'm talking about a "lap blanket". Just right for snuggling under during the cooler months, while reading, playing a board game, or watching something.

So, I'm going to share them over the year!

Each blanket will be made to reflect the favourite colours of each recipient.

And each one will be made up of squares with a different pattern.

This pattern was a lovely lacey-look 😍

Who can resist?

Who can resist a picture of a baby?

And what could be better than a picture of a baby
with their very own toy
from
Betsy's Boutique?

It gives me a special thrill that this baby does not live in Australia
but overseas!

The thought of my toys being all over the world,
giving joy to many little ones,
is amazing!

So, I hope this little boy and his new best friend have many hours of great joy together!

Monday 29 April 2019

Come over for a cup of tea, or two?

It's me again!

Things have definitely cooled down in Sydney now.

I enjoyed the summer - though it was quite extreme this year!

But a cup of tea, or two...

Just hits the spot in the cooler weather!

My very first tea cosy!

Tea cosies are much easier when you have the tea pot with you, to check on sizing, and placement of handle and spout, but my customer was one of those pearls - extremely cooperative - and despite the fact she was a few hundred kilometres away - we got it all right!

Monday 15 April 2019

Heart-breaker!

While I have enjoyed making all sorts of animals for so many customers.
It has been a great joy to make these cute-as-a-button dollies!

That's Jennifer!

She was named after a wonderful friend of mine who was my advisor on colours 😊

Every one of these dollies has been different.
The colours of clothes and hair seem to change them!

But no orders for a little boy yet!

I wonder when I will get an order for a boy doll?

I can make one in the colours of your choice 😉

Monday 1 April 2019

Catching up with the huggables!

 Great to chat again!

Hope you have been well and things are happy in your corner of the world?

It has been a while since I got an order of huggables,
but I really enjoyed doing this pair!

Checking up with the customer to make sure I am getting colours right
may at times seem extreme,
but I really want to produce something
that the customer will be absolutely thrilled with!

I want every customer to be SO happy with each order,
that they will order again!

Monday 18 March 2019

Blankies galore!!!

Hey there! How are you doing?

I've been clicking those knitting needles super fast lately!

Most of my work has been blankies.

In fact, I have now made over 100 of them!

So now I am working towards my next goal of 200 blankies. I wonder how long it will take to make that many?

I have been getting orders of other products, but that is in another post!

See you then!

Monday 4 March 2019

The twins!

Oh look at them! Aren't they gorgeous!

My customer fell in love with them 😊

This is Rachel

And this is Rosie!

My customer has twin granddaughters - a video was taken to show the presentation of Rachel and Rosie - the 12 month old twins just fell in love immediately!
